Do you know that for the past 30 years, the rate of global warming has accelerated? The environment is important to us, it determines our survival. Our class has thus taken action as a response to Earth Hour, create awareness about the issue of climate change and inspire people to alleviate some of Earth's sufferings.
Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature, also known as World Wildlife Fund), asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.
To pledge for the environment literally means to be determined to do small actions that can alleviate some of Earth's suffering and take one step further by inculcating environmental-friendly habits in their daily lives. Participants can simply write their pledges in this format, "I pledge for the environment by...". Here are some good examples:
(i) I pledge for the environment by switching off my lights after use.
(ii) I pledge for the environment by setting my aircon at 25° C
(iii) I pledge for the environment by turning off the tap while brushing my teeth.
The list goes on.
